What makes a good photo?

Human requires one photo of yourself. Pet requires one photo of your pet.

  • Your photo: face should be large, focused and facing forward in bright light. Waist-up shots work well. Since the overhead camera angle makes faces appear small, facial clarity matters most. Avoid sunglasses, masks or hats covering your face.
  • Your clothes transfer from your photo. Want that fur coat appearance? Upload a picture wearing one.
  • Your pet photo: full body visible, face in focus, good lighting. Cats and dogs produce the best results.
  • Only upload photos of yourself or someone who gave permission.

How did the ATM Glitch trend begin?

The clip that started it went up on Instagram on 6 October 2026 (5 October in the US), posted by @ehustlr with @aicreatedthis_. It looks like grainy black-and-white footage from the camera in the corner of an ATM booth: a woman in a fur coat and sunglasses takes her cash, the machine suddenly shoots out a nonstop stream of bills, the blast knocks her down, and she ends sitting in a carpet of money. The text above it read "The only glitch I'm praying for this year", and the 5,436 comments are mostly one word: "Mine".

For ten days it spread as reposts with that line and its twins, "the only glitch I want" and "the only glitch we need", from the US to Nigeria, South Africa, Pakistan and India. On 17 October Russian-speaking AI creators turned it into a one-photo template they call "Банкомат" ("ATM"), and @prostoanastasiya_ posted her remake the same day: the same booth and the same burst with a new woman in glasses. It reached 813,546 likes in three days, with comments like "The problem I want" and "Where is this ATM?" in English, Portuguese, Spanish and Hindi. By 19 October a cat stood at the ATM too.

The idea is older than the trend. AI clips of ATMs that "glitch" and spray money have gone around since 2025, and some were passed off as real: in late 2025, fact-checkers in South Africa had to debunk fake ATM glitch CCTV clips. This one won because it does not pretend. Everybody knows it is a wish, and the comments play along.

  1. @ehustlr and @aicreatedthis_ share the original monochrome ATM money explosion footage with "The only glitch I'm praying for this year"; it accumulates over 338,000 likes and 5,436 comments. Instagram

  2. Major meme accounts repost it as "the only glitch I want": @laughtercolours receives 11,376 likes. Instagram

  3. Russian-speaking AI creators convert it into a single-photo "Банкомат" template, with @prostoanastasiya_ sharing her version; it reaches 813,546 likes by 20 October. Instagram

  4. Pet version emerges: a cat appears at the ATM and finishes seated in the money pile. Instagram

Video prompt

Recreate the reference video [Video 1] shot for shot: grainy black-and-white security camera footage from a fixed camera high in the corner of a small ATM booth at night, a grey steel ATM on the right wall, a dark glass door on the left, a bare floor, with the same wide angle, framing and timing, one continuous shot with no cuts; the camera never moves. The ONLY change: the woman with long dark hair, glasses and a long fur coat at the ATM is now the person in [Image 1]. The ATM, the booth, the cash, the light and the camera stay exactly as in [Video 1]. The person at the ATM = the person in [Image 1], in EVERY frame: copy the exact face from [Image 1] (the face shape, eye color and eye shape, eyebrows, nose, mouth, skin tone, age, hair color, hair length and hairstyle, and any beard, moustache, glasses or freckles) exactly as in the photo, in black and white like the rest of the footage. They wear the clothes from [Image 1]. The same real person from the first frame to the last, so their friends instantly recognize them, also inside the storm of flying cash, when they sit on the floor and when they look up at the camera at the end. Never morph, never drift back to the original woman's face. NO glasses of any kind unless [Image 1] shows glasses. No long dark hair and no fur coat unless [Image 1] shows them. The moves, matching the reference second by second: 0-0.6 s: the person stands at the ATM, half turned away from the camera, and takes a few bills from the cash slot. 0.6-1.2 s: a huge burst of banknotes explodes out of the cash slot, hits them and knocks them back toward the camera. 1.2-4.5 s: a thick, endless stream of bills keeps pouring out of the slot across the frame, a blur of flying cash that almost hides the person, and the floor fills with a carpet of banknotes. 4.5-6.5 s: the stream thins; the person sits on the cash-covered floor in front of the ATM with both arms full of bills, while bills still spill from the slot. 6.5-8 s: they hold a fan of bills up to the face, laugh, tip the head back and look up at the security camera with a big happy grin, the face clearly visible. Anatomy rules: one head only, on the person's own shoulders; two arms, five fingers on each hand. Exactly one person in the booth; no other people. Plain banknotes with no readable text. No bank name or logo on the ATM, no readable screen, no timestamp or camera overlay, no text, no captions, no logos, no watermark.

The ATM, the booth, the cash, the light and the camera stay exactly as in [Video 1]. The pet = the pet in [Image 1], in EVERY frame: the same species and breed, face, eyes, ears, muzzle, fur colors, fur length and markings as in [Image 1], in black and white like the rest of the footage, with the natural body volume and proportions of that animal: never flattened, squashed, stretched or merged with anything. It stays an animal: no human body, no human hands, no clothes, no fur coat, no glasses. Never morph, never drift back to the woman. The moves, matching the reference second by second: 0-0.6 s: the pet stands up on its hind legs at the ATM, front paws on the ledge under the cash slot, and looks at the slot. 0.6-1.2 s: a huge burst of banknotes explodes out of the cash slot, hits the pet and knocks it back toward the camera. 1.2-4.5 s: a thick, endless stream of bills keeps pouring out of the slot across the frame, a blur of flying cash that almost hides the pet, and the floor fills with a carpet of banknotes. 4.5-6.5 s: the stream thins; the pet sits on the cash-covered floor in front of the ATM, bills on its head and back and between its front paws, while bills still spill from the slot. 6.5-8 s: the pet holds one bill in its mouth and looks up at the security camera, happy and proud, its own face clearly visible. Scene breakdown of your ATM glitch video

SecondsWhat happens
0 to 0.6Black-and-white CCTV from the ATM booth corner camera at night. You're at the machine collecting your cash.
0.6 to 1.2The ATM explodes with money: a massive spray of bills rockets from the slot and pushes you backward.
1.2 to 4.5Bills keep flying, a rush of notes filling the entire frame, and the ground becomes covered in money.
4.5 to 6.5You're sitting in the pile on the floor, arms loaded with bills, as the slot continues pouring out more.
6.5 to 8You wave the bills around, laugh and glance up at the camera with a wide smile.

This swaps you into the viral reel, rather than creating a fresh scene: advanced AI video models, including Seedance 2.5, use the original video and place you where the woman was, keeping the same booth, same explosion and same camera angle. The result is vertical 9:16, 8 seconds, at 720p, perfect for Reels and TikTok, with the reel's original audio restored after processing.

Click "Create your own", upload your photo and hit Generate. The precise credit cost appears on the Generate button before you commit. Processing takes 5 to 15 minutes, and your video appears in your Library once complete.

Choosing between Human, Pet, Best and Standard

VersionPhotoWhat you get
Human, Best1 of youThe authentic clip with you replacing the original subject, scene by scene. This is default.
Human, Standard1 of youA fresh clip following the original's camera angles, timing and money explosion, using fewer credits and faster processing. Facial resemblance may be reduced since the overhead angle makes faces appear small.
Pet1 of your petYour pet appears upright at the ATM as money explodes, finishing seated in the pile with a bill in its mouth.

The cat ATM videos emerged days after the initial clip, making the Pet version the most recent addition to the ATM money trend. All versions run 8 seconds with identical audio. Each version displays its cost on the Generate button.

Common names for the ATM glitch trend

There's no universal name for this trend. English speakers mostly know it as the ATM glitch or the ATM money glitch, referencing the caption from the first video, "The only glitch I'm praying for this year". Others look for it as the ATM trend or the ATM trend meme, the ATM money AI clip or the ATM money explosion, while some use money glitch or money rain AI, describing the bills flying through the booth. Related tags: #atmglitch, #moneyglitch, #moneyrain and #банкомат. Sometimes misspelled "ATM glich".

In Russian, where the AI template movement began, it's the "Банкомат" template: searches include шаблон банкомат, деньги из банкомата нейросеть and банкомат нейросеть. Portuguese speakers know it as the trend do caixa eletrônico, searching for caixa eletrônico saindo dinheiro. Spanish users call it the trend cajero automatico, or cajero tirando dinero. Hindi and Urdu creators say atm se paise ki barish, meaning money rain from the ATM, or the ATM money wali AI video, while in Turkish it's atm den para fışkırdı, money bursting from the ATM.

This isn't the infinite money glitch from 2024. That wasn't a video: it was a bank fraud scheme that landed actual people in legal trouble. This is a fantasy captured on camera, created with AI.

FAQ

ATM Glitch trend questions

What is the ATM glitch trend?
AI-generated fake security camera footage showing an ATM continuously spraying cash, knocking someone backward until they're seated in scattered bills. It launched on Instagram on 6 October 2026 with "The only glitch I'm praying for this year", and @prostoanastasiya_'s remake gained 813,546 likes within three days.
How do I make the ATM glitch AI video?
Click "Create your own", upload one clear photo of yourself and click Generate. Pricing displays first on the button. You receive a vertical 8-second ATM AI video with original audio. Processing takes 5 to 15 minutes with no prompts needed.
Can I make the ATM trend with my cat or dog?
Yes. Select Pet and upload one pet photo. Your pet appears standing at the ATM as cash explodes, ending seated in the money pile holding a bill in its mouth. This is the cat ATM money variant, compatible with dogs as well.
Is the ATM glitch real?
No. It's AI-generated video with no actual ATM filmed. Previous fake ATM glitch footage has been misrepresented as authentic, so label yours as AI when posting. Never attempt to obtain unauthorized money from ATMs or banks: that constitutes fraud.
Which AI model makes the video?
Advanced AI video models, including Seedance 2.5, power Best and Pet options. The model takes source footage and your photo to swap you into the scene, a character replacement preserving the booth, explosion and camera angle. Standard uses a lighter model that reconstructs the scene from the original's movements. Original audio is restored after processing. If a model rejects a photo, Smew AI attempts a backup model.
What is the prompt for the ATM money AI trend?
No creators have published one. The trend operates through single-photo templates on AI platforms that conceal their prompts; creators share instructions privately. We developed our own prompt matching our other clip recreation style, following the viral footage second by second, so you don't write prompts yourself.
Is there an ATM CapCut template?
Creators distribute the ATM money trend through CapCut and bot templates, with some seeking money rain trend CapCut versions, but none are required here, and no ATM glitch tutorial needed. Smew AI operates in your browser on mobile or desktop: upload a photo and it generates the complete ATM glitch AI clip ready for Instagram or TikTok.
How long is the video, and does it have sound?
8 seconds, vertical 9:16, at 720p. It includes the viral reel's audio, which you can remove on the result screen and replace with your own track when you share.
Does the ATM glitch video cost credits?
Yes. Exact pricing displays on the Generate button before any charges, Standard costs significantly less than Best, and failed generations receive credit refunds.
Will the woman from the original reel be in my video?
No. You replace her at the ATM with no other people in the booth. Smew AI has no affiliation with @prostoanastasiya_, @ehustlr or @aicreatedthis_.
