What kind of photo works best?

Choose full-body photos, showing head to feet, with one person or one pet per image. A cropped selfie forces the model to guess about legs and paws.

  • Upload the one who should appear on the left first. All versions maintain upload order.
  • In Original song, photo 1 replaces the left performer (wearing the striped shirt) and photo 2 replaces the right performer (wearing the orange knit shirt).
  • In Original song, pets, pet 1 replaces the left black cat, who raps, and pet 2 replaces the right ginger cat, who dances. Show the complete animal with a sharp face.
  • Simple clothing with one bold color shows up best against orange. An orange shirt blends into the backdrop.
  • Upload photos of yourself, adults who consented, or your own pets. Never use a celebrity or stranger.

Where did the Hotel Lobby trend begin?

The booth originates from an actual performance. Quavo and Takeoff performed "Hotel Lobby" on the YouTube series A COLORS SHOW in June 2022, standing before an orange wall with a single hanging microphone. By late September 2026 that video had accumulated over 121 million YouTube views.

The AI adaptation emerged in September 2026. XXL traced it to a video of two cats in the booth on TikTok in early September; Know Your Meme identifies a TikTok swap from 16 September as the first major one. Within days, creators had inserted friends, pets, movie characters and tech executives into the booth, followed quickly by template apps. The most popular AI adaptation we located is two generated cats by @therealmeowfia, posted on 23 September: 6 million views by 12 October. Takeoff passed away in 2022, and some fans requested that swaps remain respectful.

The popular versions reuse the authentic music. Original song inserts your two photos into the actual footage and Original song, pets inserts your two pets into that cat reel, music included. Two people and Two pets generate a fresh scene with a new AI beat.

Video prompt

Replace both cats in the video with characters from image 1 and image 2, and preserve the original background, actions, poses, camera movement, lighting and timing. Only replace the two cats keep everything else unchanged. Image 1 replaces the cat on the left, who stands upright and raps into the hanging microphone, in every shot. Image 2 replaces the cat on the right, who stands upright and dances with its front paws, in every shot, also when it turns its back to the camera. Each pet keeps the face shape, ears, fur colors, fur length and markings from its own image, not those of the cats in the video. If an image shows a dog or another animal, that animal takes the same place, standing upright on its hind legs and doing the same moves. Keep the orange studio, the hanging microphone and the mouth movement exactly as in the video.

Video prompt

A playful hip-hop duet filmed like a real music video, in one locked-off, centered shot with no cuts and no zoom. A small seamless studio booth with a flat matte orange wall and floor, soft even frontal light with a warm orange bounce. One black studio microphone hangs on a thin cable from the top of the frame, between the two performers. The camera frames both from the knees up, so both faces are large, sharp and well lit. The performer on the LEFT is the one in [Image 1], in every frame: copy the exact face from [Image 1] (the face shape, eye color and eye shape, eyebrows, nose, mouth, skin tone, age, hair color, hair length and hairstyle, and any beard, moustache, glasses or freckles) and the clothes from [Image 1]. The performer on the RIGHT is the one in [Image 2], in every frame: copy the exact face from [Image 2] in the same way, and the clothes from [Image 2]. If an image shows an animal, that performer is that animal standing upright, with its own face, fur and markings, not a person. They are two different people. Never blend their faces, never swap their places or their clothes, never add or remove facial hair. Each face stays the same from the first frame to the last, so their friends recognize them at once. The left performer leans toward the microphone and raps first with loose hand gestures while the right performer nods to the beat and reacts. Then the right performer takes the lead while the left one hypes them up. The timing feels natural and conversational, never mirrored. Audio: an original upbeat hip-hop beat with both voices rapping short, clean, playful lines. Photorealistic. Exactly two performers, no extra people, no text, no logos.

Why does the Hotel Lobby format work so well?

It reads immediately. The orange backdrop, the single hanging microphone and two figures side by side signal which trend this is before any motion starts, so the only variable is who appears in the booth. That portability makes it shareable: best friends, a couple, two siblings, a dog and a cat, two colleagues.

It's also a duet format. Two people means two people tagging each other in comments, and both of them reposting. Most major versions in September 2026 featured pairs with built-in contrast: a small cat beside a large one, a relaxed person beside an energetic one. The biggest one we located on TikTok follows exactly that formula: a sleek black cat rapping and a fluffy ginger cat dancing.

Which Hotel Lobby option should you choose?

There are four options. All require two photos, left side first.

Why are the Original song options wide? They preserve the frame of the footage they replicate. In the close shots the camera captures both performers side by side, so a vertical 9:16 crop would eliminate one of you.

Which segment of the footage is it? The 15 seconds that popular swaps use. They begin 12.4 seconds into the 2022 performance video; we identified the timestamp by syncing the audio of a popular swap to the source upload. We removed the show's logo. Original song, pets uses the opening 15 seconds of the cat reel, starting from its first close shot, with the same opening verse.

Why this model? We tested two models on the actual footage with generated photos. Higgsfield Genjutsu retained the original left performer. MiniMax H3 Max Recast replaced both people, and both faces and clothing came out accurate, so Original song uses Recast. Original song, pets uses the same model on the cat reel. Each run produces a new take, so outcomes vary.

How do you get the left and right positioning correct?

In the Original song options there is no preview frame to verify. In Original song, photo 1 always replaces the left performer, wearing the striped shirt, and photo 2 replaces the right performer, wearing the orange knit shirt. In Original song, pets, pet 1 replaces the left black cat, who raps, and pet 2 replaces the right ginger cat, who dances. Upload them in that sequence.

In Two people, the video prompt designates photo 1 as the LEFT performer and photo 2 as the RIGHT performer, and the one-tap process submits your photos in upload order. In our testing photo 1 remained on the left in every frame. If you receive it reversed, run it again with photos in reverse order.

In Two pets, the photo prompt designates the first image as LEFT and the second as RIGHT, and AI Photo submits your uploads in the sequence you add them. If the preview comes back swapped, don't animate it: press the remix button, remove both references, and add them again in correct order. Verify the preview before spending credits on the video: everything the video model produces starts from that single frame.

What can go wrong, and how do you fix it?

ProblemFix
One face appears as a blend of both peopleUse sharper photos with one person each, then generate again.
An Original song option positions someone on the incorrect sidePhoto 1 always appears on the left. Run it again with photos in reverse order.
Your pet retains some coloring or fur from the cat in the reel (Original song, pets)Use a sharp photo showing the complete pet and its face clearly, then run it again.
The faces don't resemble you (Two people)Since 13 October 2026 Two people creates the scene directly from your photos and the prompt specifies every facial feature to preserve. Use a sharp, close photo of each person, one person per photo.
The booth has corners or propsRun it again (in Two pets, generate the preview again); the prompt requests a seamless backdrop and a second run typically works.
Both people rap simultaneously (Two people)Keep "never mirrored" and "conversational" in the video prompt. Shorter verses help.
A hand distorts near the microphone (Two people, Two pets)Common in 10-second videos. A second run, or 8 seconds instead of 10, often resolves it.
The video model rejects the photoSome models decline certain real faces. The credits return; try a different photo.

Can you use the authentic Hotel Lobby music?

Yes, with the two Original song options. Original song begins from the actual 2022 footage, so the music and lip sync in your file are authentic. Original song, pets replicates the popular cat reel and restores the reel's music after the run, trimmed to the same 15 seconds, so the mouths align with it; you can disable it on the result screen. You don't need to add audio when you post.

The Two people and Two pets options are different. They generate a new scene with a new AI beat and generated rap verses, and the lip animation follows those verses, not the music. If you add the trending audio to one of them in TikTok, Instagram or YouTube, the verses won't align with it word for word, so many creators keep the new beat and place the joke in the caption instead.

The music belongs to its owners, and Smew AI grants you no rights to it. Music policies vary by platform, so review them before using an Original song video in an advertisement or sponsored post.

FAQ

Hotel Lobby trend questions

What is the hotel lobby AI trend?
It is a popular AI video format from September 2026. Two people or two pets appear in an orange studio booth and alternate rap verses into a single hanging microphone. It replicates the aesthetic of Quavo and Takeoff's 2022 "Hotel Lobby" performance on A COLORS SHOW, with new performers inserted.
Is this the Migos AI trend?
Yes. "Migos AI trend" and "Migos AI video" are alternative names for the same format. The footage it replicates is Quavo and Takeoff of Migos performing "Hotel Lobby" on A COLORS SHOW in 2022, so many people search using the group's name. This page creates that video with your own photos: Original song inserts two people into the actual footage, and the other options construct a new orange booth scene or replicate the popular cat adaptation. Your video displays the faces from your photos, not the artists' faces.
What is the hotel lobby meme?
The hotel lobby meme is the orange booth video: two people alternate rap verses into a single hanging microphone, as Quavo and Takeoff did in the 2022 "Hotel Lobby" performance. People also search it as hotel lobby Migos. The AI adaptation inserts new faces or pets.
Is there a hotel lobby AI template?
Yes. This page is a hotel lobby AI template: select an option, upload two photos, and Smew AI generates the video.
Is this the Viral Rap Duo template?
Yes. Some AI platforms offer this same template as "Viral Rap Duo": two people in an orange studio alternating rap verses into a single hanging microphone, created from two photos. It is the Hotel Lobby trend. On this page, Original song inserts your two photos into that same actual footage with the music, and Original song, pets does it with your two pets.
How do I create the Hotel Lobby AI video with my own photos?
Click "Create your own" on this page, select an option and upload two full-body photos, left first. Click Generate. Original song inserts your photos into the actual footage for 15 seconds, music included, and Original song, pets does the same with two pets and the popular cat reel. Two people creates a new 10-second duet directly from your two photos with a new beat, and Two pets constructs the orange booth preview with both pets, then animates it. You don't write any prompt.
Can I get the authentic Hotel Lobby music and choreography?
Yes, with the Original song option. MiniMax H3 Max Recast takes the actual 2022 footage and inserts your two photos in place of the two performers. It preserves the choreography, camera angles, lip sync and music, so your file plays the authentic Hotel Lobby audio. The video is 15 seconds and wide (16:9) like the source, and it costs more credits than the Two people and Two pets options. For pets, Original song, pets does the same with the popular cat reel.
Can I create the Hotel Lobby trend with my cats or dogs?
Yes, in two ways. Original song, pets inserts your two pets into the most popular AI cat adaptation of the trend, posted by @therealmeowfia on TikTok (6 million views by 12 October 2026): the same shots and choreography, with the music. Pet 1 replaces the left black cat and pet 2 the right ginger cat; with a dog, the prompt instructs the model to stand it upright and replicate the same choreography. Two pets creates a new 10-second scene where both animals stand upright and alternate at the microphone over a new beat, at a lower cost.
How long is the video and what format is it?
Original song and Original song, pets produce 15 seconds, wide 16:9 like the footage they replicate, with the music. Two people produces 10 seconds, vertical 9:16, 720p, and Two pets 10 seconds, vertical 9:16, 1080p, both with a new beat. All four are MP4 files, and the create page displays the exact cost on the Generate button before you commit.
How do I create the Hotel Lobby trend on TikTok?
Generate the video on this page, download the MP4 and upload it to TikTok. With the Original song options, the music is already embedded. With Two people or Two pets, the video has a new beat; add the trending "Hotel Lobby" audio from TikTok's music library if you prefer it. Use #hotellobby, the trend's primary tag (62,593 TikTok videos and 984 million views on 12 October 2026), and tag the person you placed in the booth with you, because duets get shared by both.
Is it acceptable to put celebrities in the booth?
No. Many popular versions used famous faces, but a generated video of a real person can violate platform policies and the person's rights, and some video models decline well-known faces. Use yourself, adults who consented, or your own pets.
Why does my version have a different beat from the trend?
Two people and Two pets generate a new scene with a new AI beat and generated rap verses, so the lip animation follows those verses, not the music. For the authentic beat and accurate lip sync, select Original song or Original song, pets, which preserve the music of the footage they replicate. You can also add the trending audio in the posting app, but it won't align with the lips in the Two people or Two pets options.
