AI Dunk Trend: Score in a Pro Arena From a Single Photo

Upload one photo. AI places you courtside wearing your actual outfit: slam the ball in a packed arena and yell into the lens, leap a green fuzzy mascot, cross defenders in a pickup run, or snag a lob in slow-mo. Include a friend's photo, and you'll poster them.

The AI dunk trend transforms a single photo into a pro basketball highlight: you wear everyday gear, dribble through a packed arena at night, throw down a one-handed jam and yell at the lens. The mascot variant has you soaring over a green fuzzy mascot to finish. Two recent scenes feature a pickup crossover ending in a tumble and a slow-mo alley-oop jam. You'll need one photo, or two if you want to poster a friend.

How to create the AI Dunk video on Smew AI

Everything happens in your browser. No editing software, no prompt writing, no watermark.

  1. Upload your photo

Tap "Create your own" and upload yourself, face visible (full body works best). Snap it with your camera or choose from your gallery.

  2. Tap Generate

The button displays the cost. Seedance 2.5 creates the AI Dunk scene directly from your photo, skipping any intermediate image, producing 10 seconds with original audio. No prompt needed.

  3. Download or post

Your video arrives in minutes as a 9:16 MP4. Save it, share from your device, or retrieve it later from your Library.

What kind of photo works best?

Upload one photo: yourself for Court dunk, Mascot dunk, Pickup game and Alley-oop, your pet for Pet dunk. For Poster dunk, upload two photos: yourself first (dunker), then your friend (defender).

  • Full body or knees-up, face visible and well-lit. AI preserves your face, physique, clothing and footwear, so dress how you'd like to appear dunking. Heels, a blazer or a tee all work: the mismatch is the humor.
  • Face the camera or turn slightly. Skip sunglasses, and avoid caps or hair covering your eyes.
  • Solo shot. Group photos may confuse the AI about which person to use.
  • Pet dunk: one animal, face and body visible. Dogs and cats perform best.
  • Use your own image, or one from an adult friend with permission. Never a minor, celebrity or stranger.

Where the AI Dunk trend began

AI dunking videos are not new. In June and July 2026 a CapCut "dunking AI template" spread on TikTok: a post from 2 July 2026 by @matthewherrera1030 reached 1.7 million views, and creators shared "how to dunk on AI" tutorials in English, Tagalog and Indonesian.

The new AI dunk trend is more cinematic. From 12 October 2026 an AI video app began to advertise two dunk templates on Meta and TikTok. In the court dunk, an everyday person in heels, a suit or a T-shirt dribbles down a pro court during a night game, dunks over a defender and screams at the camera. In the mascot dunk, the person jumps over a green furry mascot that holds up the ball, while two fans courtside lose it. The mascot version recalls a famous 2016 dunk contest moment, when a player jumped over a team's green mascot. Nearly 480 of these ads had run by 15 October. On 14 October an AI template site added an "AI Dunk Trend" page with grandparent, pro and pet versions, and US Google interest in "ai dunk" more than doubled from 8 to 15 October 2026.

On 15 October 2026 the same app added two more dunk scenes. In the pickup game, the person crosses over two defenders in a packed college gym, dunks with one hand and then falls flat on the floor: a basketball dunk meme in one clip. In the walk-on alley-oop, the person strolls onto a dark arena court in street clothes, a player lobs the ball high, and the catch and the dunk play in slow motion. By 16 October they ran in 56 and 36 ads, and dunk videos were the app's biggest ad group of the day, with 158 new ads in four versions. The same day two more AI template sites published "basketball meme dunk" pages.

Then the trend got a second player. On 19 October 2026 an Instagram creator posted an AI clip that put Po and Tai Lung, the panda and the snow leopard of the Kung Fu Panda films, into a slow-motion poster dunk from a real pro game. The next day an AI template site added a two-photo "Poster Dunk" template: you pick the dunker and the defender.

  1. A CapCut "dunking AI template" clip by @matthewherrera1030 appears on TikTok; it reaches 1.7 million views and 29,000 likes by 15 October 2026, the largest post from the initial AI dunk wave. TikTok

  2. An AI video app begins promoting a court dunk template and a mascot dunk template on Meta and TikTok: 134 and 146 promotions by 13 October, then 199 more by 15 October.

  3. An AI template platform launches an "AI Dunk Trend" page featuring three dunk effects: elderly person, pro dunk and pet slam dunk.

  4. US Google Trends interest in "ai dunk" hits 100, climbing from 44 on 8 October 2026. Google Trends

  5. The same AI video app introduces two more dunk templates: a pickup game crossover dunk ending in a fall, and a walk-on alley-oop dunk in slow motion. By 16 October they appear in 56 and 36 promotions.

  6. Two AI template platforms launch "Basketball Meme Dunk" pages for the trend. Dunk clips also become the largest promotion category that day for the AI video app behind it: 158 new spots across four variants.

  7. Instagram creator @tisha_bimbo shares an AI clip of Po dunking over Tai Lung in a slow-motion pro game poster dunk; it reaches 34,887 likes by 21 October 2026. Instagram

  8. An AI template platform launches a two-photo "Poster Dunk" template for the trend, with separate photos for dunker and defender.

Video prompt

An AI dunk trend video made from [Image 1]. Let the person in [Image 1] be the player who makes the dunk and recreate the dunk move; the scene stays a real pro basketball game at night. One continuous vertical 9:16 sports clip, filmed like a real TV broadcast camera at court level, photorealistic and sharp, with bright arena light. The dunker is the person in [Image 1], in every frame: copy the exact face from [Image 1] (the face shape, eye color and eye shape, eyebrows, nose, mouth, skin tone, age, hair color, hair length and hairstyle, and any beard, moustache, glasses or freckles), the same build, and the clothes and shoes from [Image 1]: everyday clothes, never a jersey or a uniform. The dunker is an adult. The same face from the first frame to the last, so their friends recognize them at once, also in the air and at the end. Never morph. If [Image 1] shows an animal, the dunker is that animal running upright on its hind legs, with its own face, fur and markings, not a person. The place: a packed indoor pro basketball arena during a night game, a polished light hardwood court with plain painted lines and no logo at center court, a glass backboard with an orange rim and a white net, bright arena lights, a dark crowd filling the stands. The other players are generic adult players in plain navy and white jerseys with no names, no readable numbers and no team logos; a referee in a black-and-white striped shirt. 0-5 s: a side tracking shot at court level: the dunker dribbles the ball fast down the court with one hand, past a surprised defender, eyes on the rim; the crowd rises to its feet. 5-7.5 s: the dunker gathers the ball, takes two long steps, jumps high over a defender who reaches up, and slams the ball through the rim with one hand, hanging on the rim for a moment; the net snaps. 7.5-10 s: the dunker lands, turns straight to the camera in a close-up from the chest up and screams with joy and power, both fists clenched, the face large and sharp, the crowd going wild behind them. Audio: sneakers squeaking, the ball bouncing on the hardwood, the crowd roaring, a loud rim clang, then the dunker's scream. No music, no lyrics, no commentary. Exactly one ball. No league, team, college or arena logos, no team names, no sponsor boards with words, no scoreboard text, no captions, no watermark. No famous athlete: every other player and every fan is a generic adult. Anatomy rules: one head, two arms, two legs, five fingers on each hand; the dunker never merges with another player, the rim or the ball.

An AI mascot dunk video made from [Image 1]. Let the person in [Image 1] be the one who makes the dunk and recreate the dunk over the mascot; the scene stays a real pro basketball game at night. Vertical 9:16, filmed like a real TV broadcast at court level, photorealistic and sharp, with bright arena light. The other players are generic adult players in plain navy and white jerseys with no names, no readable numbers and no team logos; a referee in a black-and-white striped shirt. Many fans in the front rows wear green. The mascot: a big generic green furry mascot costume with a round fuzzy body, big round white eyes and a wide smile, green furry arms and legs, no clothes, no jersey, no letters and no logo. Never a dragon, never a real team's mascot. 0-2 s: courtside, a medium shot from the knees up: the dunker stands at the edge of the court in their own clothes, hands on the knees, watching the game. 2-4 s: a wide shot from the side: the green mascot runs out under the basket, crouches and holds the ball up high with both hands. 4-8 s: the dunker sprints onto the court, leaps over the crouching mascot, takes the ball out of its hands in mid-air and slams it through the rim with one hand; the mascot ducks and the net snaps. 8-10 s: the dunker lands on both feet, turns to the camera in a close-up from the chest up and laughs with joy, the face large and sharp. 10-12 s: a quick cut to two fans courtside, a bearded man in a black hooded puffer jacket and a woman in a green dress, who jump up from their seats with their mouths wide open, scream and laugh in shock. Audio: sneakers squeaking, the crowd roaring, a loud rim clang, a big cheer and laughter.

What happens in each AI dunk variant?

VariantWhat happensLength
Court dunkYou speed-dribble through a packed night arena wearing your actual clothes, collect the ball, rise over a defender and throw down a one-handed jam. You then pivot to the camera and yell.10 s
Mascot dunkYou wait courtside. A green fuzzy mascot rushes out holding the ball high, you charge, leap over the mascot, snatch the ball mid-air and slam it through. You land grinning, then two courtside fans leap up screaming.12 s
Pickup gameA crowded college gym, pickup run. You cross one defender, spin past another, charge and jam with one hand, grip the rim, then tumble onto your back laughing. It compresses the basketball dunk meme into one clip: ball goes through, dunker goes down.12 s
Alley-oopYou step onto a dim arena floor in casual gear, appearing to arrive from the crowd. A player tosses the ball skyward, and in slow motion you leap, grab it above the rim and throw it through, the alley-oop slam dunk from trend clips. You land and exit casually.10 s
Poster dunkTwo photos: you and a friend. In a packed night arena you attack the basket, your friend leaps to defend, and in slow motion you soar over them and deliver a one-handed poster jam that rattles the backboard. You then yell at the camera while your friend clutches their head behind you.12 s
Pet dunkYour pet waits at the foul line wearing a red jersey, dribbles the ball, charges toward the basket on hind legs and dunks, then celebrates as the crowd roars.10 s

All six are vertical (9:16) with game audio: sneakers, ball bouncing, rim contact and crowd roar; the alley-oop audio shifts to a heartbeat during the slow motion dunk, and the poster dunk to a low drone. No music included, so you can layer your own audio when posting. The arena, players and mascot are generic: no league, team or arena branding, no actual players and no real team mascot.

How Smew AI creates the AI dunk video

Court dunk, Mascot dunk, Pickup game and Alley-oop are generated directly from your photo using Seedance 2.5, ByteDance's latest video model, with no intermediate image, keeping your face faithful to the photo. Our prompt adapts the line AI template platforms use for this trend, "replace the person, copy the dunk, keep the scene", then specifies the arena, the action moment by moment and the closing shot, ensuring your face appears large and clear when you yell, laugh or face the camera. Consider it an AI basketball video generator, or an AI basketball video maker for single shots: you supply the photo, it handles everything, and you appear as the basketball player in the AI video.

Poster dunk operates identically from your two photos: premium AI video models place both of you into one clip with no intermediate image, keeping both faces true to the photos. The prompt designates who dunks and who defends, maintains facial separation when you meet mid-air, and closes with a tight shot of both of you.

Pet dunk requires two stages: Nano Banana 2.1 first generates an image of your pet wearing a red jersey at the foul line, using the template sites' own pet basketball prompt, then Kling 3.0 animates it into the dunk. It costs less than people variants.

The create page displays the precise cost on the Generate button before any charges. Failed runs return credits.

Common AI dunk issues and solutions

IssueSolution
Face drifts mid-airRapid motion challenges every model. The closing shot provides a close-up where your face is clearest. Use a sharp, well-lit photo and regenerate
Multiple balls, or ball phases through rimThe prompt specifies exactly one ball. Each generation varies: regenerate
Hand or leg appears strange during jumpCommon in rapid sports motion. A second generation typically resolves it
You're wearing a jersey instead of your outfitThe prompt preserves your actual clothing. A photo with your outfit clearly visible helps
You don't fall in Pickup game, or you land on rimThe fall provides the humor, but it's challenging for any model. Regenerate, ideally with a full-body photo
The fall appears harshIt should resemble slapstick: you land on your back and laugh. If a generation looks severe, regenerate
Alley-oop lacks slow motion, or multiple balls appearThe prompt requests one ball and slow-motion catch. Each generation varies: regenerate
In poster dunk the faces blend, or you switch positionsUse two distinct photos of different people, you in photo 1. Reverse photos to reverse roles, and regenerate
Your friend blocks the dunk, or third player appearsThe prompt requests a dunk over the defender with only two players at rim. Each generation varies: regenerate
Mascot resembles actual team mascotIt shouldn't: the prompt requests a generic green fuzzy mascot, never a dragon. Regenerate if one appears
Logo or text appearsThe prompt prohibits logos, team names and scoreboard text. Regenerate if one appears

How to share your AI dunk video

Share it as humor, not authentic footage: the appeal is seeing yourself, in heels or a sweatshirt, suddenly jamming in a pro arena.

  • Caption suggestions: "They finally put me in", "Coach said shoot your shot", "Mascot had it coming", "Crossed him so bad I fell too", "Walked in off the street and caught the lob", and for poster dunk "Dunking on my friend in a pro game" or "Sorry, you're on the poster now".
  • Audio: the trend's alley-oop clips feature a sped-up "Careless Whisper" over the slow motion. Our video includes only game audio, so choose any audio you prefer in TikTok or Instagram when posting.
  • Hashtags: #aidunk (233 TikTok videos on 15 October 2026) and #aibasketball (509 videos, 4.7 million views). Include #dunk and #basketball for visibility, and #posterdunk for poster dunk (32,147 TikTok videos on 21 October 2026, mostly authentic dunks).
  • Maintain TikTok's AI label. It's an AI dunk basketball video, and viewers should understand that.
  • Create an AI dunk highlights series: the court dunk, pickup game, alley-oop, mascot dunk, a poster dunk on your best friend, then your dog's pet dunk. Your friends can generate their own AI dunk contest with their photos and compare results.
FAQ

AI Dunk trend questions

What is the AI dunk trend?
It's an AI basketball trend from October 2026: a single photo transforms into a video of you dunking in a packed pro arena. In the court dunk you dribble through the arena wearing your actual clothes, jam with one hand and yell at the lens. In the mascot dunk you leap over a green fuzzy mascot to finish. Since 15 October there's also a pickup game dunk ending in a tumble and a slow-motion alley-oop, and since 20 October a poster dunk with two photos, where you poster a friend. People also name it the court dunk trend, mascot dunk courtside trend or basketball meme dunk trend.
How do I create an AI dunking video?
Tap "Create your own", select Court dunk, Mascot dunk, Pickup game, Alley-oop, Poster dunk or Pet dunk, upload one photo (two for Poster dunk) and tap Generate. Smew AI functions as an AI dunk video generator: the AI dunking video appears in your Library, ready to share. No app, template or prompt required.
Is this the dunking AI template from TikTok?
It's the same concept with a fresh scene. The dunking AI template that circulated on TikTok in June 2026 was a CapCut template, with dunking AI tutorials on how to dunk on AI in a gym or street court. The October AI dunk trend places you in a pro arena at night, and includes the yell and mascot. Smew AI has no connection to CapCut, and you need no dunk AI template or AI dunk tutorial here: you upload a photo and receive the video.
Can I create the pickup game dunk where you fall?
Yes. Select Pickup game. You cross two defenders in a crowded college gym, jam with one hand, then tumble onto your back laughing: a crossover dunk and fall combined in one 12-second clip. The fall is comedic, so nobody appears injured. Call it a pickup game AI clip or an AI crossover dunk: it's the dunk-and-fall humor of the trend, created from your photo.
How do I create the AI alley-oop dunk video?
Select Alley-oop and upload one photo. You step onto a dim arena floor wearing your actual clothes, a player lofts the ball, and you grab it above the rim in slow motion and jam. It's an AI alley oop in 10 seconds: a slow motion dunk requiring no editing, no slow-motion software and no alley-oop dunk AI prompt to compose.
How do I create an AI poster dunk on my friend?
Select Poster dunk and upload two photos: yourself first (dunker), then your friend (defender). In a packed pro arena you attack the basket, your friend leaps to defend, and in slow motion you rise over them and deliver a one-handed poster jam. Then you yell at the camera while they clutch their head behind you. It's the simplest method to create an AI dunk on someone you know: a 12-second poster dunk AI video with both faces from your photos. Reverse photos to reverse roles, and use photos of consenting adults.
What is a poster dunk?
In basketball, a poster dunk is a jam directly over a defender, the type of play that becomes a poster. To posterize someone means to dunk on them like that, and every posterized dunk becomes a poster dunk meme. The dunk on someone meme and dunking on someone meme template are classics for teasing friends. Here you create your own: you're the dunker, your friend is the one on the poster.
Is this the Po and Tai Lung basketball AI clip?
It's the same concept with your actual faces. On 19 October 2026 an Instagram creator shared an AI clip featuring Po and Tai Lung, the panda and snow leopard from the Kung Fu Panda movies, in a slow-motion poster dunk, and the following day an AI template platform made it a two-photo template. Smew AI never uses film characters or actual game footage: Poster dunk is our AI basketball duo variant, a basketball duo AI video of you and a friend in a generic arena with no branding.
Is this the basketball dunk meme people share on TikTok?
It's the AI basketball meme variant of it. The traditional basketball dunk meme video is actual footage, a GIF or animation; here you're the one dunking. Our clips are AI generated dunk videos, so share them as humor and maintain TikTok's AI label.
Can I dunk over the mascot?
Yes. Select Mascot dunk. A green fuzzy mascot rushes out holding the ball high, and you leap over it to jam, like a dunk contest over a mascot. People search it as mascot dunk AI or dunk over mascot AI. It resembles the famous mascot slam dunk moments from actual dunk contests, but our mascot is generic: no actual team mascot, never a dragon, and no NBA mascot dunk footage.
Can my dog or cat perform a pet slam dunk?
Yes. Select Pet dunk and upload one photo of your pet. It receives a red jersey, waits at the foul line, charges toward the basket on hind legs and dunks, then celebrates. Cat dunk AI clips and dog basketball AI clips both function; one pet per photo.
Can I make my grandma or grandpa dunk?
Yes, and it's among the funniest variants: the AI template platforms feature an elderly person dunking, and grandpa dunk AI clips circulate widely. Use a sharp photo of them, with their permission, and select Court dunk.
What is the AI dunk prompt?
No creator has published a prompt for this trend. The AI template platforms use one brief line: "replace the person, copy the dunk, keep the scene". Our AI dunk prompt begins with those words then specifies the arena or gym, the dribble or lob, the dunk and closing shot, moment by moment. If you came seeking a slam dunk AI prompt or an AI basketball trend prompt, you won't need one here: the prompt is integrated.
Is it the NBA AI trend?
Many call it the NBA AI trend or an NBA dunk AI video, because the scene resembles a pro game. Smew AI has no connection to the NBA or any franchise. Your AI NBA video-style clip shows a generic pro arena with no league, team or arena branding and no actual players.
Is there an AI dunking app or an AI dunk filter?
Smew AI operates in your browser, so no AI dunking app is required: it functions like an AI dunk generator or an AI dunk filter (some captions say dunk AI filter) on your own photo, on any device or computer.
How do I create the AI basketball trend on TikTok?
Here's how to create the AI basketball trend: generate your AI dunk here, save it, and share it on TikTok with #aidunk and #aibasketball and TikTok's AI label enabled. The AI basketball trend on TikTok also includes other basketball trend AI video formats, like an AI trend basketball game in Korean school gyms; this one is the dunk. Search AI basketball TikTok to view others' posts.
Why is the AI dunking meme funny?
Because it's obviously impossible: a woman in heels, an office worker in a tee or a grandparent soars over a defender in a pro arena and yells at the lens. Like every AI dunk meme and AI slam dunk meme, it's an AI generated slam dunk that everyone recognizes as fabricated. That's the dunking AI meme's entire appeal, and why a slam dunk AI video of yourself gets circulated.
Does it cost credits?
Yes. The people variants cost more than Pet dunk, which uses an image first, and the 12-second variants (Mascot dunk, Pickup game and Poster dunk) cost slightly more than the 10-second ones. The second photo in Poster dunk incurs no additional charge. The create page displays the precise cost on the Generate button before any charges, and failed runs return credits.
Is my photo private?
Yes. Smew AI doesn't share your photo or the output anywhere or display them to other users. The output goes to your private Library, and you can delete it there anytime.
