AI Muscle Generator: You, With a Massive Bodybuilder Physique
Upload a single photo. AI preserves your face while giving you an extremely muscular physique, in your actual clothes and location. Create a photo, a flexing video, or a buff pet. No drugs included: this is an AI edit, and the name is meant as a joke.
The AI steroids filter is the viral edit that transforms a single photo of you into a massive bodybuilder: broad shoulders, large arms and a six-pack, keeping your face intact. On Smew AI, create it from one photo as a picture, a flexing video, or a buff pet. This is a joke edit: nothing actually changes.

What the AI Muscle Filter photo looks like
This is the original reel that launched the trend. Your video is a new creation from your photo following the same style, not a duplicate of these clips. Every run produces different results.
Original reel by @_that_luckylad_, 5 s
The original reel by @_that_luckylad_: standing in a plaid shirt, the shirt disappears and a massive bodybuilder physique flexes with a huge laugh. An AI effect created it from a single photo. Flex video produces this type of clip; Human creates a photo of the appearance.
The Pet variant, from the original reel by @pacogasga: his labrador on the kitchen floor transforms into a grinning, dog-headed bodybuilder wearing black track pants. An AI effect created it from one photo. Our Pet variant produces a photo of this buff pet appearance.
Everything runs in the browser. No editing app needed, no prompt to write, no watermark.
Upload your photo
Press "Create your own" and upload yourself alone, waist up. Capture it with the camera or select it from your library.
Press Generate
The button displays the price. Nano Banana 2.1 transforms your photo into the AI Muscle Filter scene and creates one 2K photo. You write no prompt.
Download or share
The photo is ready within a few minutes as a 9:16 2K image. Download it, share from your phone, convert it into a video, or retrieve it later from your Library.
Which photo works best?
Upload one photo. The same photo works for Human and for Flex video.
Just you, from the waist up, facing the camera, in bright light. A full-body shot works as well; a close selfie adds more body below it.
Your clothes remain in the photo version, stretched tightly over the new muscles, so wear what you'd like to see. In the Flex video, a man's top disappears and a woman's top becomes a fitted tank top.
No sunglasses, no hat covering the face, and nothing obscuring the face.
Pet: your dog or cat showing its entire body and face, in bright light.
Adults only. Use your own photo, or a friend who gave permission. Never a child, a celebrity or a stranger.
Where did the AI Muscle Filter trend start?
The concept predates the name. In April 2023, a CapCut "half natty filter" tutorial by @cashbrownn surpassed 1 million TikTok views, and the hashtag #aimusclefilter appeared a month later. The name emerged on 13 July 2024, when the iPhone app GigaBody renamed its muscle filter "AI Steroids"; the #aisteroidsfilter hashtag launched the same day.
In 2025, AI video effects converted it into a clip: a single photo became a five-second video showing the top coming off and a bodybuilder physique flexing at the camera. In May 2025, @somahene_ba posted "I also tried this effect" (364,500 views), and @pacogasga transformed his labrador into a grinning, dog-headed bodybuilder (240,500 views). On 29 June, @that_luckylad's clip, the first one on this page, hit approximately 1 million views. During the 2026 World Cup, AI bodybuilder edits of famous players exceeded 1 million views again.
By 15 October 2026, #aisteroidsfilter had 713 videos and 10.6 million views. It remains not a fresh TikTok wave but a consistent search: Google Ads data shows approximately 110 US searches monthly for "ai steroids filter" in August and September 2026, and 880 for "AI muscle generator".

The AI Muscle Filter prompts
You don't need this: the one-tap flow handles it for you. The photo prompt transforms your photo into the scene. Want to modify it? Copy it and adjust it in AI Photo.
Enhance the body definition and muscle tone of the individual in the first image. Add more definition to the chest, abs, and arms, making the muscles appear more sculpted and toned. Keep the overall background from the photo intact, but slightly increase the contrast and sharpness to make the subject stand out more. Ensure the individual is still wearing the same clothes but with more visible muscle definition. Then take it all the way, like the viral AI muscle filter: the same person with an extremely muscular bodybuilder physique: huge rounded shoulders, a broad, thick chest, big biceps and triceps, thick forearms, a wide back that shows at the sides, a narrow waist and a sharp six-pack where the body shows, with natural skin texture, visible veins on the arms and a light sheen of sweat. The head keeps its real size: a huge body under the same head. The clothes from the photo stay on, in the same colors and prints, now stretched tight over the new size: the sleeves dig into the arms and the fabric pulls across the chest. A shirtless photo stays shirtless; nothing comes off and nothing is added. Keep the pose, the framing, the place and the light from the photo. If the photo shows only the face or the shoulders, show the person from the waist up in the same place. Photorealistic, like a real phone photo: not a drawing, not a 3D render. Vertical 9:16: if the photo is wider, extend the background naturally. Exactly one person. Nothing in the hands unless the photo shows it. No text, no logos, no watermark, no filter look. The only change is the body: the identity rules below apply to the face, the hair and the skin tone, and the body is the new muscular physique described above.

Video prompt
Base: Use [Image 1] as reference. Preserve the subjects facial likeness, skin tone, hairstyle, age, and identity. Keep the same background/scene, camera angle, framing, and lighting style from [Image 1] (do not change environment). Edit goal: Transform the subject into a muscular physique while keeping identity intact: broader shoulders, defined biceps/triceps, chest/abs, athletic V-shape, natural proportions for an adult, an extremely muscular bodybuilder physique: huge rounded shoulders, a broad, thick chest, big biceps and triceps, thick forearms, a wide back that shows at the sides, a narrow waist and a sharp six-pack where the body shows, with natural skin texture, visible veins on the arms and a light sheen of sweat. Photorealistic, high resolution. Pose : Subject faces camera, both arms raised and flexing biceps (classic double-biceps pose). Elbows slightly bent, fists near head height, symmetrical pose, confident smile or proud expression. Keep hands/fingers anatomically correct. Wardrobe rules (gender adaptive): Male: bare upper body (shirtless), keep lower clothing from [Image 1] or convert to simple athletic shorts/pants if unclear. Female: must wear clothing (turn the top from [Image 1] into a fitted tank top), stylish and appropriate, no explicit nudity. Texture & realism: realistic skin pores, sweat sheen optional, natural muscle definition, no plastic skin. Match shadows and highlights to the original lighting; correct contact shadows. Quality: cinematic lifestyle photo look, sharp focus on face and upper body, shallow depth of field if it exists in the original, high-detail fabric/skin. Negative: no face drift, no age change, no gender swap, no extra limbs/fingers, no deformed hands, no warped torso, no unrealistic bodybuilding grotesque proportions, no nudity, no background change, no text/watermark/logo, no cartoon/anime.
The person is the one in [Image 1], in every frame: copy the exact face from [Image 1] (the face shape, eye color and eye shape, eyebrows, nose, mouth, skin tone, age, hair color, hair length and hairstyle, and any beard, moustache, glasses or freckles). The same face from the first frame to the last, so their friends recognize them at once, also while they laugh with the mouth wide open. Never morph, never beautify, never change the age. The head keeps its real size on the bigger body. A real phone video, vertical 9:16, framed from the knees or the waist up, the face large and sharp.
0-2 s: the person stands exactly as in [Image 1], in the same clothes and the same place, and grins at the camera.
2-4 s: in one quick move, a man pulls his top off over his head and throws it out of the frame, and a woman's top turns into a fitted tank top; at the same moment the body grows into the huge muscular physique.
4-7 s: they raise both arms into the double-biceps flex, fists near head height, and laugh with the mouth wide open.
7-10 s: they hold the flex, turn a little to one side for a side chest pose and look back proudly at the camera.
Audio: a quick whoosh as the body grows, a happy shout and a laugh. No music, no lyrics, no talking.
Exactly one person. One head, two arms, five fingers on each hand. Nothing in the hands. Adults only.
You pay per photo in credits, and the create page displays the exact price on the Generate button before any charges. The one-tap price covers one 2K photo, charged once. One photo is 3 credits, so the smallest one-time pack that covers it is $9.99 for 100 credits, with no subscription. A smaller 1K photo costs less if you run the prompt manually in AI Photo.

What does the AI muscle generator change, and what does it keep?
This is an AI body filter for muscle, not a face filter: the physique transforms while the face remains yours.
Stays from your photo
Changes
Your face, hair, skin tone and expression
Shoulders: massive and rounded
Your clothes, their colors and prints (photo version)
Chest and back: wide and thick
The place, the pose and the light
Arms: large biceps and triceps, prominent veins
Your head size
Waist: slim, with a defined six-pack where the body shows
The six-pack is included, so it functions as an abs filter or a six pack filter as well, but it goes all the way to a large bodybuilder physique. A manual muscle editor or muscle photo editor requires you to brush over each arm; the AI muscle editor handles the entire body from one photo. If you searched "add muscle to photo" or "add muscles to photo", this is the fast method.
How Smew AI makes it: the Human and Pet versions submit your photo to Nano Banana 2.1, Google's image model, with the prompt a creator revealed in an AI muscle filter tutorial in January 2026: enhance the body definition and muscle tone of the person in the photo, keep the background, keep the same clothes. We included the bodybuilder size, the clothes stretched tight, and rules that preserve your face. You receive one 2K vertical picture. The Flex video goes directly from your photo to Seedance 2.5, ByteDance's video model, with the prompt of a muscle generator video effect. The create page displays the exact price on the Generate button, and every run is a fresh take.
Human, Flex video or Pet: which version should you pick?
All three require one photo.
Human is the AI muscle generator photo: a single picture of you as an AI bodybuilder, created from one image of you, in your actual clothes and location. Post it as a before and after. It costs the fewest credits.
Flex video is the AI muscle generator video, the clip trend posts share: you stand as in your photo, the top disappears (a fitted tank top for women), the physique grows, and you flex and laugh at the camera. It's a 10-second muscle growth clip with its own sound, created by an AI video generator from your photo.
Pet gives you a buff pet: your dog or cat stands upright with a massive bodybuilder physique in its own fur, like the labrador in the second clip. A muscle dog or a muscular cat created with AI is an easy laugh, and there's no filter to install.
Some TikTok creators named the effect behind the 2025 clips "AI Muscle Gains".
Why is it called the AI steroids filter?
Because of an app. In July 2024, the iPhone app GigaBody renamed its muscle filter "AI Steroids", and the hashtag #aisteroidsfilter launched the same day. So the name's meaning is a joke: the AI steroids effect adds muscle within seconds, with no gym and no drugs, and the meme is a massive physique under a normal face. The same edit has other names: the steroid filter, the bodybuilder filter in a photo app and, in older gym slang, the half natty filter.
No drugs, no claims. The name is the trend's joke, nothing beyond that. Smew AI creates an AI picture or clip; it does not display or promote any drug, and the result is not a body goal or fitness advice.
How do you post it, and what if it looks off?
Trend posts display the real you first and the muscle version second. Post the photo as a two-picture carousel (before, then after), or the Flex video as it is.
Is this the muscle filter from TikTok? The appearance is the same, but it's not a CapCut template, a Snapchat lens or an Instagram effect: it creates a finished picture or clip that you post anywhere.
Caption ideas: "I also tried this effect" and "It's time to hit the gym" are from the trend's own posts. Keep the platform's AI label on: the result is fake, and stating so keeps it a joke.
The muscle filter trend is more fun with friends: everyone creates theirs and you compare.
What goes wrong
Fix
A small head on a massive physique
The prompt preserves your real head size. Use a photo from the waist up, not a distant full-body shot.
The face resembles someone else
Use a sharp photo with your face toward the camera in bright light. Every run is a fresh take.
Your clothes disappeared in the photo
The photo version preserves your clothes, stretched tight. Run it again. Only the Flex video removes a man's top.
Extra fingers in the flex
Run it again; hands are the hardest element for any model.
A run fails, or the model rejects a photo
The credits are returned. Try another photo.
FAQ
AI Muscle Filter trend questions
What is the AI muscle filter?+
It's an AI edit that gives the person in a photo an extremely muscular bodybuilder physique while keeping the face. It's also called the AI steroids filter, after an app that adopted that name in 2024. It's intended as a joke: the face remains unchanged, only the physique transforms, and friends see a massive version of you. People post it as a before and after, or as a short flex clip.
What is the best AI steroids filter?+
We don't rank other tools. The best muscle filter app preserves your own face and clothes while giving you a believable bodybuilder physique. Smew AI's generator preserves your face with a face lock and creates a 2K picture, a 10-second flex video or a buff pet from one photo.
How do I use the AI steroids filter?+
Press "Create your own", select Human, Flex video or Pet, upload one photo and press Generate. Smew AI creates the picture or the clip and places it in your Library. You need no app and no prompt.
What would I look like with muscles?+
Upload one photo and press Generate: the Human version displays you muscular in one 2K picture, with your face, your clothes and your place, and a massive bodybuilder physique. It's a joke version, significantly bigger than a real training plan delivers.
Can I type "make me muscular" instead?+
You don't have to. People type "make me muscular", or simply "make me muscle", into AI chatbots; here the prompt is built in, so you only upload a photo. There's no app to install either.
Is there an AI muscle prompt I can copy?+
You don't need one. The Human and Pet versions use the prompt a creator revealed in a January 2026 AI muscle filter tutorial ("Enhance the body definition and muscle tone of the individual in the first image"), plus the bodybuilder size and face rules. The Flex video uses the prompt of a muscle generator video effect. It works for every trend version, from a muscular physique to a buff pet.
Is this the ChatGPT muscle filter?+
No, but it functions the same way without any pasting. Your photo goes to Nano Banana 2.1 (Google's AI image model, the one behind Gemini images) with the prompt already configured, and the face lock preserves your face.
Is there an AI muscle filter app, or does it work online?+
It works online: the generator runs in your browser on Smew AI, on a phone or a computer, so you install nothing.
Is it an AI muscle filter or a photo editor?+
Both, in a sense. It edits your real photo like a muscle filter photo editor, but you never brush or drag anything: you select a version and press Generate. It's not a gym filter that only adds a gym background.
Does the AI muscle filter work on women?+
Yes. The photo preserves your clothes, stretched over the new muscles, and the Flex video gives women a fitted tank top instead of removing the top. The appearance is the same: massive shoulders, large arms and a six-pack. Men receive the muscle man look, women a strong bodybuilder appearance.
Is there an AI buff filter for dogs and cats?+
Yes, the Pet version: your dog or cat stands upright with a massive bodybuilder physique in its own fur, with its own head and face, in one buff photo.
Is the AI muscle gain real?+
No. The gains you see are created by AI from a still photo. Nothing changes in real life, and no drugs are involved. State it's AI when you post it.
Can I use it for a gym before and after?+
Yes, as a joke: a muscle growth filter creates a fun before and after, but keep the AI label on and never present it as a real result. It's an enhancer for laughs, not a realistic muscle filter: the physique comes out far bigger than training delivers.
Does the AI muscle generator make videos too?+
Yes. Flex video creates the muscle effect as a clip: 10 seconds, 720p, vertical, with its own sound. The Human and Pet versions create a muscle filter photo.
What does the bodybuilder look include?+
A massive, extremely muscular bodybuilder physique under your own head: rounded shoulders, a thick chest, large biceps, prominent veins and a defined six-pack, in the same light as your photo. It's created by AI as a photo filter, not a lens.
Can I use a photo of my friend?+
Only an adult friend who gave permission. Never use a photo of a child, a celebrity or a stranger, and state it's AI when you post the result.
Does the AI muscle generator cost credits?+
Yes. The Human and Pet photos cost a few credits, and the Flex video costs more, because it's a video. The create page displays the exact price on the Generate button before any charges, and if a run fails, the credits are returned.
Is my photo private?+
Yes. Smew AI does not post your photo or the result anywhere or display them to other users. The result goes to your private Library, and you can delete it there anytime.
